About the Lenovo AC Adapter:

  • You can connect the Lenovo ThinkPad X120e power adapter with your computer either turned on or off.
  • The AC adapter works with electrical outlets worldwide. However, power connectors vary among countries. Before you use AC power in a foreign country, you may need to obtain a new power cable designed for use in that country.
  • If the computer is connected to a Dell docking device, you can run the computer on AC power by connecting the AC adapter to the docking device.
  • If you are running your computer on AC power with a battery installed, the AC adapter charges the battery (if needed) and then maintains the battery's charge.
  • To avoid overheating the Lenovo ThinkPad X120e power supply when powering the computer or charging the battery, use the AC adapter in a ventilated area, such as on a desktop or on the floor. Do not use the AC adapter in a poorly ventilated environment, such as inside a carrying case.

Read more about AC adapters before ordering

When ordering an AC adapter, check the voltage and amperage on the bottom of the laptop to make sure you are ordering the correct Lenovo ThinkPad X120e AC adapter. Some models have more than one AC adapter depending on the amperage rating. The rating should be taken from the laptop, not the AC adapter because this is the best match of what the laptop needs. You should find a rating that looks like this: 19.5V --- 4.62A. It can be on the label on the bottom of the laptop or in the battery compartment. AC adapters are safe to use within +/- 1V of the laptop voltage. It is also safe to have a higher amperage than marked on the laptop because the laptop can only pull the amperage it needs. Less than the required amperage will cause the Lenovo ThinkPad X120e power supply to burn up because the laptop is pulling more amperage than the AC adapter can give it. Also, check the DC Jack on the back of the laptop to make sure it is not loose. This will cause the laptop to appear like the Lenovo ThinkPad X120e power adapter is bad when the laptop is just not making connection with power.
