HP EliteBook 8460w AC Adapter Tips :

  • Do not short-circuit. A short-circuit may cause severe damage to your laptop battery.
  • Store it in a cool and dry place (The suitable temperature is about 15°C). Before storage, you should confirm your HP EliteBook 8460w battery is not fully depleted. If empty, charge for about 30 minutes.
  • Usually a lithium-ion battery should be stored at about 40% state-of-charge, because laptop battery's self discharge can break the battery in the storage.
  • Please take out the EliteBook 8460w charger from your machine when it is not being used and clean it with soft and dry cloth.
  • Do not drop, hit or otherwise abuse the notebook battery as this may result in the exposure.
  • Especially avoid regularity ove-rcharging and over-discharging and high temperature.

Read more about AC adapters before ordering

When ordering an AC adapter, check the voltage and amperage on the bottom of the laptop to make sure you are ordering the correct AC adapter. Some models have more than one AC adapter depending on the amperage rating. The rating should be taken from the laptop, not the HP EliteBook 8460w AC adapter because this is the best match of what the laptop needs. You should find a rating that looks like this: 19.5V --- 4.62A. It can be on the label on the bottom of the laptop or in the battery compartment. AC adapters are safe to use within +/- 1V of the laptop voltage. It is also safe to have a higher amperage than marked on the laptop because the laptop can only pull the amperage it needs. Less than the required amperage will cause the power supply to burn up because the laptop is pulling more amperage than the AC adapter can give it. Also, check the DC Jack on the back of the laptop to make sure it is not loose. This will cause the laptop to appear like the HP EliteBook 8460w charger is bad when the laptop is just not making connection with power.
